Hey all!

Yep another one of them newbies!.. I wonder how many people actually read these 'newbie' posts?

Anywho's, just thought I'd introduce myself, as no doubt I will be on some of these forums a lot lately due to my project! My IS200... Well, I've had my car for about 3/4 months now, and even though I do love her, she's a right pain in the backside! So does anyone know where to go for the best advice on engine conversions / turbo kits for is200s? Smile Planning on making her a fun drift car, something with a bit of poke (forced induction of course!) and something that stands out!

I myself (the boring bit) am from Wiltshire, and will no doubt be going to a few car shows! Silverstone isn't that far from me, and Castle Combe is round the corner!

So that's my lame-ass attempt at introducing myself anyway! Big Grin

Hey at least you took the trouble to say Hi!!

Forced induction on an IS200 will either be the TTE supercharger kit IF you can find one, expect 2K or there abouts for one. Or a turbo conversion, expect 5K ish there is a guy building these kits Ike is the name but I don't have the contact numbers lol.

Or swap the engine, Supra 2J and 1J engines fit - V8's also fit - how much power do you want?

5k.... Hmmm... are we talking GBP sterlin here?

I'd be happy with 350bhp for now! but the option of adding more power in the future...

I heard that 2jz is a pain, and the 1jz's are okay as long as you go for the single turbo'd version and the uz's are a bigger job and more money as it's NA and you have to get an adapter to fit a gearbox (off a supra)?

Cheers for the reply tho dude!

Unfortunately the IS200 is not a cheap car to modify. The 1JZ is a good conversion and will give you plenty of usable power - with room for more later on.

Yeah, that's the option I'm swaying towards at the moment!

Hi and welcome. You will find lots of very helpful and friendly people on the OJC. I did.
I just got my is200 three days ago.
Not going to mod it too much. I'll do that to my mr2 once the head gasket is sorted.

Welcome mate.

The other idea is the 1ggte conversion I have. 2 litres but built better than the standard engine so can get more power.

Welcome! If you want forced induction, the 1jz is the way to go.

The 1ggte sounds interesting! Was that an easy fit into the is200?

And sorry posty! Rather rude of me! I've not taken any recent photo's of her! But I will get some up soon enough! She's not much to look at at the moment, she's pretty much just standard - just stripped a bit and got some strut braces on (xmas prezzie!) Im just saving up at the moment and once I've got the bits (ie the engine, gearbox, all the other new shiny bits) I'll be taking a bit of time off work to get her sorted! Smile
