Well as most of you will know, I purchased a Mercedes E55 AMG a few months ago and have gone a bit quiet since then. Well I'm pleased to say that the modding bug is slowly catching hold again, so I thought it best to start my own project thread.

Here's how she was the day I bought here...

Unfortunately due to transmission issues she had to go back to the dealership for a complete rebuild at a total cost of £2400 (lucky I wasn't paying).

When she came back I treated her to...

- K&N Air Filters
- Complete strip-down clean of intake/manifolds
- Oil and filter change
- Rear diff oil change
- 16 new spark plugs (man that was a tedious job!)
- New supercharger oil
- New valvecover gaskets (one was leaking)
- New supercharger belt and accessory belt

All work was done by me which I'm quite proud of as it's a lot more complex than the 2JZ in my old IS300.

To prevent the intake manifolds from getting gunked up again I fitted two catch cans:

I also acid bathed the intake manifolds - you can see the colour difference between the supercharger in the middle and the two AMG bits at either side.

Then I fitted some AMG pedals...

Got rid of the Mercedes emblem that yoofs like to try and pinch...

And finally fitted a rather nice looking rear spoiler...

I've also fitted a tracker to the car which can cut the fuel pump if I send it a command via text message Smile

Although I'm going a bit slower with the mods to this car, a few of the things on my list to do which seem worthwhile are...

- Meth injection as the car suffers quite badly from heat soak due to the massive engine and supercharger all crammed in the engine bay.

- Some modifications to the air intake system (larger diameter pipes and air scoops behind the front grille)

-Exhaust headers as the OEM ones are really restrictive and going aftermarket can reease 40whp!

- Magnaflow back boxes for more GRRRRRRR

- CarPC install Wink

Just the eBay special one I posted about in an older thread.

For £60 it works bloomin awesome. I can set it to inform me if the car moves outside of a certain radius that I set with a text message, disable the fuel pump, query the current location of the car, display where the car has been on google maps, listen in to what is being said inside the car....etc

Good work so far Jim, the intake manifolds came up great! Did you acid bathe them yourself?

And is it just the camera angle or is the foot rest actually between the clutch and brake?

Indeed I did. My first foray into the world of seriously hazardous chemicals and I'm still here to tell the story Big Grin

Regarding the footrest, the pedal to the left of it is actually the hand brake. Makes for great unintentional handbrake turns when you forget you're in an auto :p

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-UK-GPS-tra...27c36b2f13

That is an updated version to the one I've got. I think the only difference is that it's in a smaller package (mine was in a aluminium case about the size of two *** packets).

Yeah, I found it hard to believe that it's actually larger in some dimensions than the LS430! It feels much smaller to drive other than when parking as it doesn't have any parking sensors Sad

I like your catch cans, they're very elegant. Where did you get them from?
