Does anyone know electronics/ PCB's etc?
I'm in the middle of fitting a android tab to my lexus is200 (in the oem flip up bit)
All is going well so far, screen is mounted, I've got most of it worked out except i've hit a small snag. The board pictured is the volume and power button board, which fitted quite nicely in the case, but i need it smaller.
Now to me, it looks as though, as there are no tracks, i can just cut this and relocate (or dismiss!) the earthing wire that just goes to an aluminum foam pad anyway that squeezes to the frame of the lcd.
Would i be right in this, I obviously want to get it right before just cutting it, but I can't see anything to give me a reason not to so far. Just so you know, if possible, i'd like to cut it just by the groove, the holes are locating holes, and although not a good pic, that is just writing on the other side.
Then it's just a case of installing some new switches (and extending the wires from the board (Hmmm, might need help here!)) for the power and volume buttons.
Any help gratefully received!
Its an Archos 70 mate, i'm pretty sure that it's just that big for locating purposes, there is a load of gubbins going on up one end, but not the other (which is the end I'm looking at cutting if possible)
I'd say it's fairly certain that there will be tracks etched into the middle layer which are then sandwiched inside the outer layers to prevent shorting.
Sorry if I've missed something but why do you need it smaller if it fits in the case anyway?
Good news and bad news people!
Good news: I got it to fit and didn't need to cut it anyway,
Bad News: I didn't insulate the motherboard properly and shorted it. Grrrrr.
Attempt number 2 coming soon!
Well at least you know it works now! A lot of the time with custom work it's not the first attempt that becomes the finished article.
