toyota Altezza RS200 ,bellhousing
hay all i am starting an engine swap in my lexus is200 ,going to be fitting a 3-SGTE engine and using the standerd box and to do so i need a bellhousing off the tezza to mate them
if any one could help me out itt would be grate:tongue_smilie:
One for Firebird Phil methinks... He had that very swap in an is200...
toxo Pretty sure you need an Altezza box. Phil certainly did as it was first built with an IS200 box and it didn't work/fit.
Oil drains and pickup will be complicated too, as the engine is not designed to be mounted inline. Good luck!

Its less work just to drop the engine Stav has in, or a 1JGTE and both conversions will give much more power and less headache on the electrical side of things.
Look at the 2 gearboxes and you will see many differences. The bell housing ISN'T a simple thing to swap over - been there done that. Just pick an RS200 'box up from Ireland or a Jap breakers they go for £350 - 400. You will have to lengthen the gear shift mechanism as the engine will not sit in the same place regardless what way around you do it. The prop will need shortening also. Then you have all the other things to sort out, the engine is taller then the 1G-FE so the bonnet doesn't close properly even with short engine mounts, the exhaust manifold won't fit, unless cut up and swapped about, you will need to sort out a power steering solution, the list is almost endless for an engine that is under powered for the car unless you through a lot of money at forged internals, then you may as well so the Supra swap.
I had this conversion done and wouldn't ever do it again or recommend anyone do it as its not worth the hassle compared with just dropping a 6cyl from the Supra in. The idea is sound enough the practicable application isn't.
i personally wouldnt bother doing it.
seems a lot of messing when there is much stronger engine choices which will probably require similar amounts of work and will also be more reliable.
