New Wheel Nuts
New Wheel Nuts
Can anyone recommend a specific place that sells decent wheel nuts ?
I'm contemplating getting some new ones for my IS200. I realise there are lots on eBay but wonder how long some of them stay in good condition, e.g. if they go rusty after a couple of months.
I also realise I need to get the right type of nuts, e.g. the right sort of seating etc.
Any experience/recommendations ?
You can get the adonized type Steve, that keep the colour pretty well or you could get the tuner nuts but think there a bit thin and will sick out a bit too much for the wheels you have, think if it was me i'd try and find a set of black toyota nuts with the flat mounting face and think they will match the outer rim studs pretty well
Thanks, I was looking at the wheel nuts on eBay earlier, and I did spot these ones.
The thread is M12x1.5, and the OEM nuts have a flat seat. I think this is a standard Toyota fitment.
One question about the coloured nuts though, for those who have used them. Does the colour come off easily ? i.e. do you need to use a socket with a rubberised insert to protect them (and get garages to use that etc) or are they pretty tough in general ?
The reason I'm after some new wheel nuts is - wait for it - I've finally got some TTE Chicane wheels ! Woo-hoo, I'm very excited, been after some for a while but was thinking I'd never find any !
I bought Chris's wheels from his old car (thanks Chris !). I'm going to get them refurbed (via WIM) and get some new tyres on them, but I can't wait to get them on my car !
That is great news Steve!
Any joy with wheel nuts? I am looking for new coned seat set (M12 x 1.5) for my OZ wheels, I think I am going to for Mcgard ones - they are little expensive though.
I'm still thinking about the wheel nuts. When I was thinking about the black ones, I realised that my existing McGard locking nuts (silver) wouldn't look right with them.
But now I've found out from TTE that I shouldn't be using the OEM wheel nuts with them, they recommended a tapered seat instead of the OEM flat-seated nuts. So I'll have to buy a new set of nuts anyway.
I saw the McGard wheel nuts and they look good, though as you say expensive. I've also been recommended the Dura nuts, which come in different colours and I think have a cone seat too. But they're expensive as well.
I bought a set from

Got the - 5zigen - Racing Nut
20 x M12-P1.5 (19Hex) - includes 4 Locks
Very light & good quality. Now got them on the Mazda, starting to show signs of the anodising coming of at the edges but had the wheels of & on on the Lex a good few times. Could not belive how light these were compared to the standard Lexus nuts.
Pricy though cost £100 from Japan.
