needing help upgrading kenwood garmin firmware
Ok I'm needing some help with the above from someone that knows about software and computer stuff lol lol
I've got a kenwood Dnx9240bt and I'm trying to upgrade the firmware.
I've downloaded the zip file and extracted the file if that's what you are meant to do. Burned it onto a disc. But when I put the disc into the headunit it just comes up with disc error.
Any help or ideas would be great.
Oh and remember I'm thick as **** when it comes to computer stuff haha

this says you just need to burn it as a disk media. so i am thinking you need to burn it as a cd
Done that and it won't read my cd
Done that and it did not work. It's all this decompressing files etc etc that's getting me.
Is there anyone that would like do it and make sure it works then burn it to a disc for me.
I would pay all expenses and be due someone a favour :-):-)
Hmm, def a cd not a DVD?
It may be falling out with the type of cd I.e. Whether it's a plus or a minus.
Ah never thought of that. I'm using a cd and is a minus one I'm using
Might have to buy a + one and try that. But still not sure I'm doing it right haha
no it say's -
Use the Disc media as the update media. CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW is
recommended
think you should download winrar and unzip it with that
Ok I'll try that over the weekend. So my -cd should be Ok then ??
KenwoodForums I was having some bluetooth issues and I thought it might have been related to me trying to figure out how to change the FM radio to Euro tuning(I tried a bunch of button combinations).
I decided to reinstall the firmware (I will note that the reinstall didn't actually seem to change anything like my euro tuning. I think the bluetooth issue was the phone).
Here's what happened.
I inserted the DVD I burned. The unit said "disc read error"
I selected "standby" on the touch screen. The system went into standby mode but didn't try to update.
I went into settings and system info. It showed ver 1.4 and there was a box next to it that said upgrade firmware. I selected this and the firmware update started.
The point being, disc read error is OK for the firmware upgrade and has nothing to do with how you burned the disc.
