jimxms Would need to go fully stand-alone for that unfortunately. Without the MAF the car will throw fits as it uses it for all kinds of stuff like idle control...etc.

Meh.

Granted it's extra expense, but would that not be easier (and definately better?)

Yes and no really. Obviously you'll make more power, and have no issues with the OEM ECU trying to take control of things. But on the other hand, stuff like idling, starting the car on cold days, fuel gauge readings etc can be problematic I've heard.

I've got an Emanage Ultimate sitting in a box waiting for some love. But I want to give the Blue a chance to work for me first. I'm only running 440cc injectors so in that sense the Ultimate isn't a 'requirement' yet. Also I perish at the though of how much it will cost to tune. My EMB map probably needs 1-2hrs on the dyno. I bet the EMU would need 5-6hrs.

Aye, I toyed with an EMU before I went adaptronic standalone on the 5. That was a ballache tuning it, especially with ITB's, but I did it myself and it ran beautifully from cold - with perfect idle control and everything else.

Then again, an IS300 is a WHOLE different kettle of fish with a hell of a lot more sensor witchcraft.

On a sidenote, I love meth injection. While I wasn't boosting, my exhaust tip got totally caked with black soot. But as soon as my meth started activating again with the boost back on, the exhaust has self-cleaned itself to the point where I can run my finger round the inside and have absolutely no blackness on my fingertip!

good news for me then as i gave in and snapped up a kit off ebay last night:

Looks an ok kit so we'll see when it arrives.

Good job mate, you'll love it. I'm looking forward to seeing what my pistons look like when I swap them out. The rest of the engine I've seen while running meth has been spotlessly shiny.
