Right......... had a go at fitting the seats today.

First I cleaned them up with Autoglym leather conditioner and also Raceglaze Alcantra cleaner and also used Poor Boys Natural Look uPVC cleaner on the plastic bits - look great.

I managed to get the rear door cards done, and got the front seats in and the arm rest. I also changed all the door handles to chrome. I was struggling however to get the front door cars back on and then it got dark so have still got the front door cards to stick in.

Pictures to follow

Not had much chance to do many updates recently but thought I would just bring this up to speed here.

I have been thinking of more power, the Evo power deliver y is so smooth that as a driver it doesn't always feel that quick once you get used to it! After about a year of pondering, researching, getting rides in 500bhp + Evos, looking at 2.0L Forged vs Strokers I finally decided on what I wanted.

The Holy grain is obviously as much power as possible, with the least lag and the widest powerband. :thumbup1:

I had a ride in an MLR members 2.2L stroker car with and FP Green HTA (running 520bhp/500ftlbs) that convinced me this was the route I wanted. It seemed to spool as quick if not slighter quicker than my stock turbo but the turbo really hit HARD from around 3k rpm all the way to 7.5krpm
What I also loved about this car was how quiet it is!! It sounded probably a touch quieter then my stage 1 car. It had aftermarket cams but idled almost like stock which I really liked.

The power delivery was awesome however and it felt much more aggressive then the 2.0L car I went in. Not so aggressive that it unsettles the car but just enough to push you very very firmly in your seat and the power is ballistic just what I want my car to be like!

The turbo seems to be there from actually just below 3000rpm (around 2800rpm) and the car just relentlessly goes through the gears! You can hear it spooling from around 2300rpm and then by around 3000rpm the car is just there and off you go!

Car felt much stronger then a 2.0L forged car I had been in with a BBK-B turbo. That felt like it was starting to spool at 3K rpm and then hit you hard at 4k rpm but it did not really feel loads faster than my stage one car.
Now I do love REVS too (being a previous S2000 owner) and the 2.2L was the best choice. It has the closest rod ratio to stock so revs really really quick and depending on turbo choice and up rated head bolts can potentially be revved to 9krpm. The bad news was the 2.2L also one of the most expensive engines to build because it needs a billet crank where as the 2.3L and 2.4L engines can be built cheaper.

But I decided I wanted 2.2L. :w00t:

I went to see a few different tuners around the UK but decided to stick with the ones I had used all though my Evo ownership and that was TRL Developments in Halifax. They are 25mins down the road if needed which for me was a big selling point, they have their own Dyno, engine building facitilites, flow bench for porting etc and Matt@TRL has been in the game 20 years plus and he has always been great to deal with.

We had a long chat and decided to go 2.2L Long Rod (which has an even better rod ratio then the already great 2.2L and should rev even quicker!)
I let TRL buy almost all the parts for me on my behalf simply because they are then responsible for everything and I have a come back (in case of issues) because they supplied, fitted, built the engine, mapped and dyno'd it all)
In the end the basic spec we decided on is:

2.2L Long Rod (Ross Sport 94mm (2.2) Billet Crank Shaft, R&R Ross Sport LW Pro-Billet I-Beam Connecting Rods (153mm), CP Custom X-Forged Pistons)

FP RED HTA Turbo (about 250rpm laggier then the FP Green HTA but has the potential for 600bhp rather then 500bhp and more top end which should help the slightly longer rev limit I plan to have (8.5k rpm)). I have gone for the ported version which does reduce lag further and an anti-surge cover.

Cosworth M2 272 Cams with vernier springs and retainers (Matts Choice) so the car idles as close to stock as possible and helps to avoid valve float at the top end.

Adjustable Cam gears so Cams can be adjusted

LR19 Head Studs

Stock Cylinder Head Glass Flowed, Ported, Polished and Gas flowed - again to help reduce lag and get the turbo spooling quick.

JMF Exhaust Manifold

MAP Rev 2 Ported Intake Manifold and s90 70mm Throttle Body (These should compensate for the 250rpm spool up difference between the FP Green HTA and FP Red HTA)

1000CC Injector Dynamics Injectors

340L Stealth Fuel Pump (a new development which means a noisy Bosch 044 is not needed)

ACT Streetlite Flywheel and Clutch (feels like standard but can handle 508ftlbs torque, I didn't want a heavy twin plate clutch that was noisy)

loads of other engine bits and pieces but can't remember them all off the top of my head!

The one proviso is the car will have to be detuned slightly to try to look after the 6 speed gearbox in my car. Matt has mapped an Evo 6 which a stronger 5 speed box and RS Diff that has an older version of the 2.2L kit with a standard cylinder head that runs 603bhp/560Ftlbs torque!!

I can't afford to get a stronger built gearbox yet, so we are looking to keep the torque to around 480 - 490ftlbs. BHP doesn't really brake gearboxes so we can get the power up to 550 - 580bhp++. Over the winter I plan to buy a 6 Speed gearbox and get it strengthened. Shep Transmission in the US make a stronger gearset for the 6 speed box.

There is a guy on the MLR that had a 6 speed box running over 623bhp through it so it does give me hope!
