That's good to know; so it won't stop working if the battery in the fob dies/gets weaker

As for the spring not flipping the key out, when you remove the blade to get it cut and put it back in the fobover tighten the spring by winding it back over the fob just once thats enough to make the key filp quicker.

What documents do you need to provide when getting a key cut?
And are timpsons any good?

Shouldn't need any docs if you have a key for them to use as a template.
I've just had one cut by timpsons and the guy did a good job. They quoted £10 including the key but as they didn't have a blank I used an eBay one and they charged £5.
It took 2 attempts when he cut it for the key to work but he said it might as my original key was well worn. Very happy with there service

I was gonna use Timpsons (even though they failed miserably to cut me a Yale style key in the past), but I rang a contact yesterday, a mobile vehicle key supplier/cutter, who said if I bring him my key and a blank, he can cut it for me for gratis! So hopefully I'll pop down to him Sat morning and see if it can be done!

Just stopped by my local Timpsons, who say they have the machine to cut the key, but not the clamps to hold it, so they won't do it... And I now can't get hold of a guy that said he'd cut it for me. Meh...

I rang a local place, the guy on the phone assured me he could cut it no problem for less than a tenner (since I'm supplying the key and sorting the transponder etc myself), but can't do it till Wednesday as the guy that does the car key cutting is on holiday. So we'll find out then.

I'm going into my town centre today, there is a timpsons there so hopefully they can cut it for me. Had the biggest scare of my life on Saturday, when i locked my car walked to a wedding held in a church and in between the car park and church, (100 yards) my key separated from my fob! I didn't realise until after the ceremony! I went cold and froze! Lucky it was found!
So I am definitely getting another cut as I don't have a spare.
How much does it cost to get another transponder?
