I had another fiddle this morning and the earth bolt into the boot was not that tight, this would of course cause blowing fuses. I am quite embarrassed I didn't check this out first.

I still can't get any decent noise out of the Alpine - time to let a more knowledgeable person fiddle I think.

a single sub on a mono block @ 4ohms would not sound as loud as perhaps a single sub on a pair of bridged channels running @ 2ohms ???

I may be wrong here but its just a thought ?? If you have a dual voice coil sub you can wire it up to a mono block to run @ 2ohms and would get more boom boom ??!!

It is wired to 2 Ohm on the mono amp. But 4 Ohm on the Rainbow as it is not 2 Ohm stable bridged, it sounds louder by a long way running on the Rainbow amp at 4 Ohm.

We will see at the weekend what is whatHuh

I have a long phono lead, no splitters though. I also have speaker wire, power leads etc.
How about a replacement Alpine mono amp (or whatever brand) - I reallllly think mine is faulty it is THAT ****.

I will bring the instructions for the Rainbow amp and sub so all is clear.

Magic is not the word!!

The problem was the sub wants to run at 1Ohm and the Alpine is maxed out at 2Ohm, BUT teh Rainbow fed each voice coil with the 2Ohm supply it wanted so thats why the Rainbow sounded far better than the Alpine. Redzhas installed an amp in that drives a 1Ohm sub and now it all works fantasticly, infact better than I thought possible!!

Glad your happy mate..

the hifonics brutus happily puts out 600w @ 1 ohm of class a/b power which has great SQ.

after a few minor issues with sub wiring and figuring out the HU wasnt the one we though and only has one preout, we rigged it up with a set of phono splitters to feed each amp and a bass level controller on the hifonics amp so that the sub can be controlled seperately.

It sounded great and must say i was impressed by the rainbow front speakers.

after a bit of tidying up of your wiring and relocating the amps you will have a simple but very effective system!

oh, and congrats again on the 2nd place in the ice awards!
