Its got long gears, and I out pulled a Focus St on the motorway, so its a good solid platform to get lots of poke from.
Its very similar to the K20 in the DC5 and EP3, just doesn't have quite as aggressive vtec cams.
So if you want big power thats what you need, a K20z4 head is the best, out of the FN2. If you stick N/A and swap the head, with a decent exhaust cam and a new manifold, you can get up to about 250-280bhp. Given the car isn't that heavy for its size, it should shift. While the engine is out I will put a LSD in.
But its all pipe dreams at the moment, not got a lot to spend on it. So probably this time next year before I start any work in that department.
Given the financial restraints, by the end of the year I hope to get some DC5 Brembo calipers, and recaro seats in. Ready to handle to extra power.
The K24 engine in the type s is a bit of a beast to be honest. It keeps up and beats quite a few unsuspecting German motors!
