Protok What's all this revving the nuts off it stuff?
I have a 3SGE in my MR2 and that is perfectly drive-able as a daily driver without having to rev it's tits off.

It's more a case of driver focused but comfortable whilst being spacious.

Fair enough, but the MR2 is probably a fair bit lighter than the IS/Altezza - I know the IS200 needs to be revved to get any power out of it, and from what I've heard the RS200 is similar..........

But what I was getting at was not that it needs to be revved like crazy, but more that the IS300 will give you far smoother, effortless power in comparison.

The 3SGE is about 70kg lighter than the 1GFE and the Altezza is apparently lighter than the IS200 though I've yet to find evidence.

The IS300 interests me but then there is the 2jz maintenance costs which do not appeal to me. A 2litre is probably best when thinking of the road tax, petrol and maintenance.

@Chri5: I require an auto so the 3SGTE IS200 is out of the question for me, even if I do want to have a try of it, I quite disliked the 3SGTE in the MR2, probably more controlled and in place in the IS200.

Yep the Altezza is definitely lighter than the IS200 because it has less sound proofing and such, but it probably doesn't make a massive difference. I've never heard of the IS300 being more expensive to maintain than the IS200, but it will be slightly heavier on fuel.

Road tax is identical for both so that isn't really an issue (between the IS200 and IS300, not sure what the Altezza is)

Your tyres last 6 months? How many miles do you do?

Dino that a concern that your changing your tyres every 6 month.
Are the tread on your tyres bold across the whole wheel surface?

Could it be your GEO that's out?

Protok The IS300 interests me but then there is the 2jz maintenance costs which do not appeal to me.

Wouldn't worry about servicing the 2JZ, cracking engines and pretty much bullet proof.
