Bandit the other officer says its a nice car but could i keep the noise down a little when i go through town on my way home? as passers by are stopping to look at it and i may cause an accident Confusedhock:
So you are allowed to drive nice cars in The UK, but not too nice or you will cause accidents? :Chair:

Mine is probably a bit loud as it hasn't got any soundproofing under the bonnet? think they thought it was the exhaust that was making all the noise? and didn't realise it was the charger?

It did sound very nice going up through Llanberis and through the mountains though :w00t:

lol I got pulled over in Suki and asked by traffic police if that 'racket' was legal ? I said absolutely, totally and completely and pointed him to my car sticker that said 'If that's too loud, you're too old!' One policeman in my old home town told me my car drove them crazy because in the centre where it was all so built up, the sound just reverbed around and they could hear it but had no idea where it was coming from. Mine is noisiest the slower you're going so in traffic on pullaway, it sounds like I am aiming for 0-100mph in -7 seconds .. and hence .. gets attention.

The only attention I get in the Prius is people walking out in front of it and complaining that they didn't hear it................

Jambo HAhaha thats quite funny. Are there actually any noise regulations on how loud a car is? If there is and your car doesn't breach them then there is absolutely no reason they should have pulled you over...

Not specifically your car. The only time it's checked is at MOT and it's basically down to the testers discretion as to whether the aftermarket exhaust is significantly louder than a stock one. But for that to work the tester would have to know how loud every stock exhaust was - a stock part on a ferrari is going to be louder than on an iQ!

Other than that it's just the usual public order / noise pollution laws that apply.

That's really funny, I guess they were bored! Or more likely they thought you were probably trouble and pulled you over to see if there was anything dodgy going on, then saw you and the family and realised they had made a mistake and needed to back track with the noise rubbish - like when I was pulled over for "not wearing a seatbelt" Smile

Noisy exhausts save lives - FACT! I wonder how many people the police would mow down every year if they didn't have sirens.
