parthiban My problem is that I don't have headlamp washers any more, so it'll be a fail for me either way - but I'll just pop out the HIDs (well actually if I have it done at Lexus they do it for me)
No mate it's not. It's only says you may have the systems.
It's like the spare wheel thing. Basically if you have the washers etc they must be working but if you dont have them no harm no foul.
It doesn't say you have to have them at all if you have hid.

They'll struggle to make HIDs w/no headlight washers a fail although I'm sure they will at some point with an age cap otherwise FTOs (and Hiccup) would have to have them retrofitted.

Very little, people are making mountains out of molehills again. The big changes are that fixed bucket seats aren't allowed anymore and they've clarified the rules about cats.

The inspection of the steering lock only applies to passenger cars with:
a steering lock fitted as standard by the manufacturer, and
four or more wheels, and
not more than 8 passenger seats excluding the driver’s seat, and
first used on or after 1 September 2001

as i have said many times the new laws dont mean jack as they are worded MAY so you can take it either way ie may or may not as for the must be fitted with a headlight leveling system theirs two types the suspension type and the head light type....whos to say you dont have the headlight leveling?you cant see it and you cant take covers off to check so their for you cant fail it....and yip cars before 2001 dont need a steering lock for test heres the manual......

Yes. They must be on sliders that move backwards and forwards through at least 3 positions. Don't have to recline though, and I think that rule may only apply to 2 door cars.
