2tongues We can live without it, but I prefer the Swedish way. Only sell in government shops and charge a huge amount for it, it works there to an extent from what I could see.

Take a look at this story:
http://www.wftv.com/news/25813000/detail.html

i would support that as well, increase prices i dont mind that

Hmmm so little old me that has never drank and driven, never had an alcohol fuelled fight, never received alcohol induced injuries, never caused alcohol related damage to someone elses or my own property

now has to either go without alcohol all together or save up for two months to afford a beer,

just because of the minority or in some cases the majority of ******* retards in this country?

I THINK YOUR POINT OF VIEW SUCKS

its almost like saying, "oh yeah, there are like 2,000 deaths on the uk roads this year so were either gunna outlaw all transport or you can only get insured in government shops for no less than six grand"

lets see how up for that ban you'd be???

drugs i can deal with being banned as there is no reall way drugs can be used legitametly

but you start calling for a ban on booze and you merely push us more into a controlled state

of which 99% of you complain about anyway

_________________________________________________________________________

What yo forget is the alcohol trade has an infrastructure where millions in the uk would loose their jobs and thousands of companies would go under

Same as people that say ban smoking, its my choice to smoke, i dont smoke around you, leave me to it, i work and pay taxes like you, just because you "dont like something" doesnt mean it should affect me when it clearly doesnt affect you?

i think this thread should be closed because its gone past being a debate and is now more black and white opinions thats got me ******* started

lol no forum riot

ive never met any of the regulars but i still class them as aquintances (sp) wouldnt go and personally attack them....................only some of their views

i think thats all it takes is common sense, the lack of it is ruining our fair country

whilst im happy to have a pint and then drive, i wouldnt mind a zero tolerance on it because it still gives us a choice

banning it or making it so expensive it may aswell be banned removes the choice, which should be a statutory human right

I bet he didn't have snow tyres on. With them on you and everyone around you is safer because your car can get far superior grip on snow, ice and cold wet roads, also you don't tend to slide into the car in-front.

Common sense says in the snow you prepare your car accordingly - but no 90% of drivers can't be bothered, and then a few slip and slide into one another - then they pay more in insurance excess then proper tyres would have cost, then suffer increased policy's and in the end we all end up with higher policy's.

This is why legislation should be made and enforced to make the roads safer for everyone, if people can't afford to be safe then they can't drive simple - driving is not a right its a privilege.

Oh my POV was formed because of deaths in my family, and friends - due to drink. Don't tell me my POV sucks until you have buried a family member taken by a drunk driver - on a motorbike. That changes your POV forever trust me.

granted your POV is due to personal circumstances

but it still doesnt alter my opinion that it sucks,

ive buried family members for all sorts of differnet reasons where laws where broken and common sense was completely lacking

that doesnt automatically mean i want to ban everything.........

if you read my posts im very for a zero tolerance on drink and driving, i would happily accept it, my step sister is wheel chair bound for life because her mate was drink driving, fair enough my sister was stupid enough to get in the car anyway, but thats besides the point

as ive said, you cant condemn the majority because of the minority

im not necesarrily annoyed at the "concept" of a ban, im annoyed that some peoples opinions are "jsut ban it" with no forthought of the consequences, the reasons, and their opinion is mainly based on what they like or dislike

which with me holds no substance at all,

to call for a ban on something you need categoric reasons and evidence that far outweigh the positive side of the product your are calling to be banned

there are far worse things in this country that need banning other than alcohol

even if we put a 3 drink per person limit, id be happy with that, its very rarely i ever drink more than that anyway, it would kerb the binge drinking issues, pubs would go out of business completely, and if someone was moronic enough to still drive after those three drinks, atleast it was only 3 and not 6/7

banning alcohol would only push it underground and make it a serious danger like drugs are

either way i still think your POV sucks, but im not trying to attack you eprsonally and im certainly not attacking your reasons for it, ive ahd similar experiences that im not willing to share on here, so im closer to your losses than you may believe

Totally agree with you James in every aspect there mate.
But then I totally agree with Phil.
But James, you said you drink no more than 3 beers. What do 3 beers do? Nothing, so therefore you don't need to drink at all. Alcohol is stupid and people don't need it.

then yo could say that cola is pointless? so people dont need it

3 pitns can get you tipsy if not drunk if you dont drink very often

i dont drink often, probably 2 pints a week? but i prefer the taste of real ale to the soda cr*p they serve, or any of there soft drinks

its more to do with choice than sense and reason,

i do agree with phil up to about 95% i would say,
