jimxms That'd be the (non-existent) dip-stick then which Mercedes decided not to include with the car and instead just put a plastic bung on the dipstick tube!

Reading the oil level using the service menu on the dashboard is a pita. "6.7l of oil". Great, is that high/low/just right? :p

Just fill to spill .
A guy at work did just that.
His oil low light came on on the motorway so he stopped at a services and saw that there was no oil under his oil filler cap. He then proceeded to fill his engine with about 9litres of oil to the top!
His engine promptly went pop and left him philosophically baffled. The really scary thing is, this guy works on aircraft!

Small update. I thought i would do some 'free' mods to the car today, so using only what I already had in the garage I took one manky supercharger:

Masked it up:

And applied some high temp paint:

As I was quite clearely bored, I also took some left over heat reflective tape and applied it to the underside of the air boxes:

That looks fantastic mate! And the heat reflective tape is a great idea, I've been considering doing something like that when I make my own manifold cover for the Lex.

I dont think it was mate. I've had it for years as I originally used it to make a heat chamber for my work, and it really prevents the heat from transferring.

I reckon it was about £15 at most for a big reel of it. The gold stuff is much more expensive on ebay.

Aye, basically this stuff:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GROWROOM-REFLE...20bdad664a

Whether or not it will make much difference I'm not sure. But its worth a punt as the carbon airboxes for my car are over a grand :/

The real trouble area though is the intake manifolds (bits with the AMG on them). I'm not quite sure what I can do to lower their temps. I did want to powder coat them but I think this may insulate the heat rather than letting their cast aluminium construction radiate it out?
