Most of these are extensions of the SDKit so are completely safe and are tested before being released. Quite a few end up going on the appstore after 'approval' from the analapple gods!
I would say the 3g is the best model. Its quite a significant diff to the 2g in terms of speed and power. The 3gs has some extra nice touches but nothing you cant live without.
one thing to consider is when buying it on 02 either paug or contract you get the unlimited internet and free 'cloud' wifi access. You wont get the wifi on other networks and sometimes the internet bundles are extra add ons so do the maths between what your currnet contract is and how long before it runs aout and the advantages of the new deals.
its certainly not a 'novice' phone and its more like having a mini computer in your pocket and if you get bored of it, you can just dl new apps..
i just put on a 'touchpad' app that turns the iphone into a wireless touchpad to use with my pc or mac.. great for mediacentre pc's and certainly a bonus for incar pc's!

not going to spend 440 on a 3gs but around 250 for a 3g off ebay, want one in very good condition so might have to spend a bit more, or buy my brothers which is in prestine condition and convinve him 3gs is what way to go lol

i had a play with my brothers and like it, and fancied the changed from Nokias, more speciacally the N series.
Thats why blackberry came to mind, cause they got alot of features and no touch screen on most, but now the iphone is the way to go, i just got to learn not to put my mobile on show and arms left for the kids, who have destroyed my N95 8GB

yh to be honest, i never considered one, cause I had a LG Viewty and did not like the touchscreen, but compare that with the iphone the iphones touch screen is obviously much better.
