Bought some Fertan (as per Rolex's suggestion) and have applied it to the rusty bits of the Nissan. It takes a while to do its thing so I shall go back later today to see what's happened! I'm quite intrigued to find out what it actually does (I've read about it but not seen it in the flesh).

Yesterday evening I conducted the biggest bodge I've ever undertaken... repairing my very rusty foglight!

I had sprayed the rusty internals with Fertan a few days ago, so they were as solid as they were getting. I coated the remains of the lens with spray-glue and cut aluminium kitchen foil to fit. Then I tiger sealed the whole thing back together with a new bulb and hey-presto!

Unless you look directly at the lens focal point, the light output is very similar to the original fog, and the lens is the same colour now. I'm a bit worried about the wiring, there's a dodgy wire in there and if it comes off getting it apart again will be hell. But, it's done and it works Big Grin

What no gaffer tape? I am disappointed.

totally worn out and broken, shouting 'Holy ****, WHAT A RIDE!'"

Isn't spray glue impressively flammable? Huh

Air filter by K+N, Exhaust by Japspeed, Brakes by Mintex......... And a scuffed rear arch by my sister. Huh

That's the propellant. It's not once it's cured.

During:

That photo makes it look even more incredibly **** than it is. It really doesn't look that bad.

After, this is the repaired light on top and the unmolested one underneath:

Got my wheels balanced and then swapped the fronts with the rears.

And then cracked on with the rest of my day...

Lexus GS450h SE-L - with GROM iPod and Bluetooth paired to my Nexus 4 - Michelin tyres on factory 18" wheels - WIM geometry settings - PIAA silicon wipers

Other rides: Datsun Laurel, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Sunny
