What have you done to your car today?
Bought some Fertan (as per Rolex's suggestion) and have applied it to the rusty bits of the Nissan. It takes a while to do its thing so I shall go back later today to see what's happened! I'm quite intrigued to find out what it actually does (I've read about it but not seen it in the flesh).
I had sprayed the rusty internals with Fertan a few days ago, so they were as solid as they were getting. I coated the remains of the lens with spray-glue and cut aluminium kitchen foil to fit. Then I tiger sealed the whole thing back together with a new bulb and hey-presto!
Unless you look directly at the lens focal point, the light output is very similar to the original fog, and the lens is the same colour now. I'm a bit worried about the wiring, there's a dodgy wire in there and if it comes off getting it apart again will be hell. But, it's done and it works

Mr Reman Isn't spray glue impressively flammable?
That's the propellant. It's not once it's cured.
