DIY Supercharger Issue
Pushing the button and engaging the charger while even on full revs won't damage the belt..that's how the merc one works...3.5k boom charger flicks on..your a/c works in the same way..
Ok,
I've having a good rad of this thread and to be honest the 2k price for a charger was out of my range, however if it can be done for cica £600 then that's do-able. However, I'm a bit confused with some of the terminology etc.
Could someone else, in simpleton terms whats needed, other than the charger, intercooler and belt! Obviously I'll need the mount for the charger to sit on (think I have a bloke to do this, although would be handy if there was some sort of plans/design already done) but I'm confused regarding which ecu, blow off valve, clutch switches, which intercooler fits etc etc
PLease explain if you can!
I have been planing my install a while now. Charger sits on my bedroom floor for almost a year now. got it for 50 pounds, but without pulley and now I am having a hard time finding one...
anyway I gathered some pictures of other user installs, these pictures are not mine and I hope their owners wont mind
you can see +/- what is needed for complete kit. butterfly valve can be replaced with bypass valve or a bov
ill try if i can mate,if you've got an Eaton m62 off a merc it should already have the clutch, just need to wire it up to a 12v feed somewhere, see Patrick answer early on in this thread. inter-cooler I guess you can get a universal front mounted one, nothing too big or you will loose boost.well that's what some say?
you will need a fuel cut defender hks or other, again Patrick is making some of his own which should be better.search this post.
ive gone for a hks ssqv but will have to do some tinkering with the spring, depending on the boost I get, also a good idea to get a boost gauge as well me thinks.
happy building.
northernmonkey Ok,

It would seem I've fallen at the first hurdle!
I have a made who can make anything from metal, but after showing him pictures etc and talking to him, he don't want to get involved. He cited it's too much work, as the bracket needs jigging etc to get it lined up perfectly for the belt. He also reckons your producing two to get one, because of the jigging process.
I do have some other people I can call on, but I seem really put of now! I'm sure the bracket would be about the only thing holding me back, the pulley can be bought easy enough, and the pipework could be virtually done from a universal kit.
Who wants to make me a bracket? lol!
northernmonkey It would seem I've fallen at the first hurdle!I started making a jig for the bracket/cradle a while back, but I didn't have time to finish it before I sold my supercharger kit. If I get hold of another cradle I could probably replicate it. I've got the tools and materials needed. The only thing missing is a complete jig.
