toxo I think it'd look a whole lot better if they weren't blue to start with (I hate blue dials!!) and if it only changed the rev counter, changed the speedo when that got past say 120mph, etc, to function more like warnings Smile

Confusedhock:Confusedhock: What's wrong with blue dials? Look better than when they were orange in my car anyway :p

purplewitch That would either drive me nuts .... or I'd be testing it ever ten seconds and blow up my car

Me too... except I think my car takes more than 10 seconds to actually GET to the redline point  I'd have to set it at around 4k revs to ever see it...

DaveEdin Confusedhock:Confusedhock: What's wrong with blue dials? Look better than when they were orange in my car anyway :p

Chavtastic Smile Don't get me wrong, blue dials can be made to look great but most people just replace 1 set of bulbs for another without thinking about what will happen to the needles, useability (your eyes can't focus on bright red and bright blue at the same time for example, opposite ends of the visible spectrum), brightness etc. You only need to look at a set of VW dials to see blue LEDs done well.

Not too bright, the needles are contrasting and still well visible, and so on. They look tidy and professional, unlike the Supra dials in the video which are way too bright and if anything would actually be a distraction while driving! There's so much glare inside the binnacle it just looks naff. More brightness in the backlights makes it harder to pick out the needles, especially if they're the same colour as the backlight itself.

Hope that makes sense, I'm not knocking blue dials per se, just that when I usually see them 'modified' to blue they never look that good!

Heh I know what you mean, there is rather a lot of glare in the supra...

Mine look nice and bright, with the needles perfectly visible as well (pic's a bit rubbish, my phone camera's fault)

As with all mods though, some will like, some won't Smile And I like, which is all that really matters in the end

Could be worse, you could've fitted those hideous visual performance / el glow dials

You can see exactly what I mean about needles from your photo. As you say it's a cack camera phone shot but where is your rev counter needle? Smile Speedo needle gets dimmer towards the end (common problem with changing colour actually).

It's there  pointing at around 800rpm... It's perfectly visible to the eye,but I took 4 shots with the camera and none of the buggers showed the needles to any great degree... You can hardly tell where any of them are in the pics though...

 Looks good to me when driving though...

I'd take a guess and say they have been done with RGB LED's but only using the pins for red and blue, how they get it do change though I don't know. Probably linked to an aftermarket rev limiter of some sort.

And I'd definitely agree with those who have mentioned the LFA dials! Smile
