As dimis said, you can't get the 1G-GTE pistons and rods any longer from Toyota (though I can give you the part numbers if you want).

Best bet IMHO is to try and get a 1G-GTE engine. They do come up from time to time, and it's by far the most cost effective option. They fit straight in, you just will need new rings, and you might want to put some new bearings in while the engine is apart. The trouble is you won't really know the condition of the 1G-GTE internals until you get the engine apart, they might be knackered. But if you don't pay too much then it's probably worth the gamble, given the high price of alternatives.

Also couldnt, if you wanted, get some rods and pistons machined up by Carillo, Wiseco etc?

Hands off that 1ggte its mine!!!! been watching it all week!

the guy on pistonheads wont come to a reasonable price, he wants £300 for the long block
