To be honest I've pretty much brushed this off as 'one of those random things', but the other day when waiting at a junction there was a sudden dip in idle RPM and the brake pedal went spongy. It hasn't happened since and the car drives and acts like normal. Just a bit weird...?

Did the pedal actually feel spongy or did the brake pedal just travel further when the revs dropped? No idea what causes it but if it's the latter then my car has done that since new so don't think it's anything to worry about.

Yeah sorry I should have been more specific. It traveled further - so i had my foot firmly pressed on the pedal (as i was right up behind someone), then it all of a sudden had some more travel in it so I pressed the pedal further down just in case the car was going to start moving forward (auto tranny).

Cool, yep mine does that all the time and has done since new. Not sure if it's specific to autos, but mine's an auto as well - does anyone know what's actually happening to cause it?

Well that's a relief I guess Confusedmoke: I thought it may have been one of my mods that caused it.

I dont think the car was going to lunge forward or anything, it just caught me off guard. Would deffo be interesting to know what causes it though.

could it be somethin to do with the abs pump or something, i'm not at all technical but I know when the engine is off if you pump the brakes it is harder to press, then when you switch the engine on the pedal "sponges" again, altho I don't know why it would act oddly during driving, my 200 didn't do it that i recall

Was your 200 an auto, and does your 300 do it?
