Dan_Turism0 generally the larger a/r the higher potential top end power however you may lose some spool time. As stav said you can have 2 turbos that are the exact same just with different a/r's which i think is the case in stav's and rabsters unsure on Dave's.

Thats true on the Exhaust or Hot side yes.

But as my link says on the cold side its not hugely important.

Stoney It's what you do with it that counts, eh Stav?

As the owner of a Focus ST found out Saturday. Big GriniscoStu:

Still doing other little bits and bobs on the car, and more about them when i finish the work.

But got this the other day:

I LOVE it, been wanting one for ages. I tried to make one but couldnt get it looking any good, though got it working.

The only issue i had was that this is obviously built for a 4 cylinder engine so the RPM gauge was out on mine, but as the LINK ECU runs the tacho all it took was a couple of keystrokes to change the ratio to 0.66 and its spot on.

Nice big rev counter !

On the A/R discussion (I realise this was a little while back), bear in mind that the turbo is in two halves, the turbine (exhaust/hot) side, and the compressor (inlet/cold) side. Each half will have its own (probably different A/R). As Stav said, the A/R (Area/Radius) doesn't matter so much on the compressor side and is usually fixed for a specific turbo. But on the turbine/exhaust side, some turbos have options for different housings with different A/R's. So one GT3071R turbo might have very different characteristics from another, because of differing A/R's.

The A/R you see on the turbo is normally the not-mattering-very-much compressor A/R, since you're looking at the cold side of the turbo.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

I like that, didn't know the modellistas had they're own clusters, like the edge that's just plain black without the silvery bits Smile

Probably just the photo but is the gap between 5 and 6000 revs smaller than the others?
