Was reminded yesterday by a large thump when it fell over - it seems to have leaked a little onto the boot carpet. It's not a lot (hasn't soaked through) but the area is a bit damp.
Can I just leave it to dry and all will be fine, or will this cause issues? And if so what should I do about it?

After changing my battery over the weekend, I put the old one in the boot to take down to the local recycling centre - however never got time in the end and forgot I left it in the boot.

Can I just leave it to dry and all will be fine, or will this cause issues? And if so what should I do about it?

You might be lucky...but normally battery acid eats through fabric...I would remove and rinse it with plenty water..

Ok now I'm more worried, I'll go out in a bit and pour water on it. I suppose the carpet isn't a big problem if it needs replacing, but if it does eat through the carpet is it going to do anything to the metal beneath it? cared:

Phil01 should not cause corrosion as it was only for a short time, once again just wipe down metal with water, all you need to do is to dilute the acis and it does not take much.
Thanks Phil, I'll get water on it over lunch - been reading about using a mix of baking soda and water, should I do that (assuming I can get hold of some baking soda) or is it not necessary?

However battery acid is nothing to worry about if plenty of water is used to dilute it as Phil01 says.
