I suppose the immobiliser was to stop being able to hack into the wiring and start the car - which is a risk that still exists if you have the proximity start but no immobiliser?

drool drool the MR2 would love one of these, and a proximity sensor to pop the drivers door also - talk about cool....

i dont think i could buy another car without it,

although the facepalm moment is forgetting your keys.....

normally with central locking you walk towards your car and rummage for the key to pop the locks, if they arent there then you turn back and look for them

with the proximity sensor im forver thinking my keys are in my jacket and get all the way to my car, try the handle three times before rummaging for said keys to realise i left them in the house/office

does get a tad annoying sometimes for forget folk such as myself

Here you go then:

Just don't let anyone chop your finger/hand off or they will be able to steal your car:Fish:

I remember Geoffers developing a fingerprint engine start many years ago but it didn't get anywhere I think, and his poor health didn't help matters.

This was done with cars a while ago but it's disappeared due to the security risks I think during a car jacking - the previous audi A8 had a fingerprint scanner I believe.

Definitely be having one of these on the project! Think it'll be over the top for the MR2 (it has enough electrical gremlins lol) but the next car needs to be as trick as possible...
