I would be adding to those threads, so people are warned again.
We all put our trust in dealers, at one time or another they must get off on ripping us off. Saying that I will be letting Toyota service and MOT the Prius in a couple of months.
DaveEdin My local Toyota has a top-notch mechanic I know won't screw me over - lucky me

oh oh oh oh oh i have an idea for the club................a name and shame area......??
You have to be very very careful on that one .. All kinds of legal battles start very quickly from there and win or lose, right or wrong it all ends in a lot of trouble for the club and more headaches for the management .. The odd little post here and there is much harder to fault than a specific zone
Got a reply back this afternoon from the complaint I sent to Mini UK:
Dear Sir/Madam
Thank you for your email dated February 12, 2011. I am sorry to learn that you have encountered an issue with the service provided at Scotthall Stirling Corner and for the concern and frustration that this matter has caused you.
I have spoken to Ms Sophie Revan, Service Advisor at Scotthall Stirling Corner, so that I can gain a better understanding of the issues that you have raised. I appreciate that you feel that the headlight bulbs were caused when your MINI Once Seven was at the dealership for a recent MOT, however, Ms Revan has assured me that this is not the case. The timing of this fault is an unfortunate incident that could not be foreseen by the dealership when the MOT was taking place and I am sorry that this occurred so soon after this work was performed.
Ms Revan has advised that build up of corrosion was the cause of the headlight bulbs becoming faulty. In understand that you disagree with this information, however, I am sure that you can appreciate that MINI UK Customer Services are not a technical department and we have to rely on information from our dealerships diagnostic reports.
I can fully understand that you feel the corrosion build up should not have happened on your vehicle given the low mileage, however, I note from your email that the vehicle spends a lot of time in the garage not being used. As this is the case, the engine not being turned on to dry the engine bay out can cause a build up of moisture with the engine which, over an extended period of time, can cause a build up of corrosion. With this in mind, there is no evidence that this issue was caused by either the dealership or a manufacturing defect, therefore, the diagnostic and rectification costs were chargeable to you.
With regards to the costs that you were charged, £79.99 of these were made up of diagnostic costs to determine the fault and the remainder were for the costs of the headlight bulbs. A diagnostic report must always be performed on vehicles which are experiencing any issues so that the dealership can determine the actual cause and, therefore, conduct the necessary investigative work. As our network of MINI Approved Dealerships are independent business authorised to represent the MINI brand, MINI UK do not have any influence over the labour and parts rates that they apply to vehicles in their care.
I am sorry that you will remain unhappy with this information, however, I trust that this email clarifies the situation. I have logged details of your concerns, regarding this issue and the service provided within Scotthall Stirling Corner, under case number *-**********, which we will use as part of our ongoing customer satisfaction programme and dealer audit.
If you should require any further assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
MINI UK
Nothing more than I expected really, although I was quite surprised at the rather poor spelling and grammar in their response (for Mini UK to call it a Mini Once Seven was particularly amusing).
The thing that still annoys me is the complete lack of acknowledgement or remorse in returning a car back to a customer with a fault that didn't exist when they picked it up.
Other than that though I don't have the time nor can I be bothered to take this any further, so just going to chalk this one up to experience and take my business elsewhere.
FFS, £79.99 to tell you your bulbs are blown, aye right !!!!!
