I got followed by a fiat panda car down a new bypass road in Rugby, I didnt notice it and to be honest i was gunning the **** out of it as i was late and more than likely hit silly speeds at one point

got to the lights and they came screaming to a stop beside me, rolled the window down and said "nice car mate, but slow down a bit please"

im still confused as to there reasoning, they werent in a rush anywhere or for something else as far as i could tell, I can only presume as it was a panda car they had no way of recording my speed?

would of been a license loosing moment if they had.............

Marsdendean ^^ they can still give you points and fine for speeding even if they cant detect it with a gun or anything.

I was behind a 530D estate once doing 20 - 25 in a 30, so i overtook it, and next minute it was tailgating me. So, i shot of down this road, which turned 40 and had a few sharp corners, must of hit around 60 to try and loose it, next min blues and toos. Got me out of the car, asked me why i was going so fast, and said luckily they were going to let me off, but had followed me at 60 and that was enough to issue points and a fine!

As far as i was aware if you contest the ticket then they cannot uphold it, just because they say you were doing "X" speed by their own speedometer counts for jack as it probably wont be calibrated, im sure there is a plethora of loop holes that state unless they have a calibrated speed detection device then they cant do you for it.

Doing a little reading on the subject, (im bored at work) they can issue you the points but only enforce it on a set criterai should you contest

1) there are atleast two offices in the car to corroberate the speed
2) the speedo has been calibrated at the correct service intervals
3) the speedo is re-tested upon returning to the station after any motoring stop where by speeding has been detected

I think you could get away it, btu not worth risking lol

The rules are similar for speed guns, they have to be regularly calibrated (once a month I think) and you can request to see the calibration certificate for that time period otherwise it's inadmissable.

Does the Pogo alert also pick up police cars travelling? Im guessing they turn their guns off when its in the back, but if its left on the pogo will still pick up a police car nearby?

I doubt it to be honest. I think that due to the nature of a laser it needs a fairly 'direct' line of sight. I.e having the gun pointed at your car.

One of the great things it does though is plot each of your journeys on a map along with the speed you was traveling. So if the police pull you over, you can quickly find out if you was actually speeding or not.

Also if it detects a laser/radar being pointed at your car, it automatically records the time/date/location/speed and will warn other pogo users as well.

EDIT: ooh forgot to say that later this year pogo are releasing an accessory that essentially jams laser signals so that police cannot obtain an accurate speed reading of your car Big Grin

Bear in mind you need to have a valid use for something like that or it is illegal and they will come down hard - as long as it works as a parking sensor or similar all is well :thumbup1:

Lol, yeah parking sensor is the better use as it's easy to prove and no other inspections are required.
