The features you are incorporating into this project are really sexy. My concern is that for number of us that have no clue with electrics, this will end up being way beyond our capabilities. Simple example is that I have never used a soldering iron in my life and would not like to try and lear on the complexity of this project. Saying that though, if you come up with a solution and a set of colour coded instructions, I'd probably pay a local auto electrician to do the job.

Have you had any thoughts on how / where to mount the start button?

Dark Samurai What do you do if you need a 12V supply mate?

I am going to move mine. I bought the centre armrest. The small cubby hole underneath it has a hole exactly the right size for the 12v socket.

Right to sum up

the push button system i currently have installed in my car will work on any Lexus is200, what you will still have for this is the key in the ignition this serves 2 purposes

1 - to make sure the Imobiliser is disengaged
2 - to unlock the steering column

you can get a bypass module that the start button will control to when you unlock the car it will give a feed to the bypass unit and then the switch will engage.

if how ever you are happy to remove the steering lock then you can replace the ignition barrel location with the switch, and by pass the immobiliser with the module and your car will be key-less entry and start

I really would not be happy about removing the steering lock and ignition barrel. How are you ever going to get an insurance company to accept that.
