it took me ages to decide on a dslr before i settled for a D90, having read alot of reviews i noticed alot of pentax users are saying you can buy old lenses from the 35mm slr's so it can make that option cheaper if you want alot of different lenses

I should be getting a new camera next week, the one i use at the moment isn't a proper DSLR, its a Fuji S9600 fixed lens camera with a 24-300mm lens and 10.7 x zoom, but works very well.

The next one i'm going for is the newer Fuji HS10 which has the 24-720mm lens and 30x zoom also with HD video :thumbup1: can buy it new for around £240 at the moment as there bringing out the new fuji HS20 in the next month or so?

so might be another option for you Phil? don't need to buy separate lenses for it, but depends on how you want to use the camera your after?

Phil01 seen a d40 on ebay with 18-55mm Nikkor Len Kit 4gb card 2 batts and infra red remote control for £260, does that sound a good price??

Thats exactly what i paid for my D40 about 2 years ago. I think its a great camera. I'm looking forward to a chance to use it a bit more

That ias an excellent camera Chris, one of my artists uses one really really good camera in all situations. He used to have a DSLR but says will not go back to one as these new hybrids are so good now. Refering to the HS10.

Have to agree the bridge cameras have come a long way - they're still quite far off DSLRs but in everyday use for the normal consumer there probably isn't a massive difference.

Gord One of the tanker drivers that comes to work selling me one of these HS10

Cool mate, one of the things i like about it, is the motion remover, if you take a picture and someone walks in front of you, the camera removes them from the image so you get the image you were looking at?

Hopefully be having one myself in the next week or so :thumbup1:

Gord Its 2nd hand, he only used it once, he going to let me have a look next time he coming, gave him my number as you know i work shifts, so if i'm not @ work he will ring me, and i can pop round to have a little look, anything i should look for ? i don't think there will be anything wrong, as i know him, and i trust what he said about using it just the once, he saying bit to complicated for him.

it should be fine mate, i've never had any problems with any of my Fuji cameras. :thumbup1: always been very reliable :thumbup1:
