Can you break down the costs, instead of just chucking a figure up?

OK, due to various PMs etc, and as not to cause rampant panic that there's some noob that can do 2JZ swaps into a IS for peanuts, I've done some semi proper pricing.

2JZ-GTE engine/loom/ECU - £1100
R154 Gearbox (for instance) - £600
Parts, including all custom pipe work - £1300
Slush fund (unforeseen 'just incase money') - £500
Labour (15 days excluding club discount) - £1500

Total = £5000

Those prices are to the max.

Think I'll have to do a sponsored car over winter to prove it huh?

not criticising here Roadside as my knowledge and expertise isn't anywhere near as good as yours but wouldn't using the R154 limit you a little power wise?

The yanks run the R154 up to about 700bhp, it's a strong old box, has a few issues with second gear syncros IIRC but easily sorted. It's probably the cheapest option Vs strength.

ahh fair enough Roadside Smile like I say not questioning you was just curiousity. Agreed it's a lot cheaper and more viable option than sourcing a V161 which seem to be going for around 2-3k alone thats if you can find one to start with.

You could go W58 if not wanting more than BPU, but it is a bit fragile.

Yeah, the V160/161 aint cheap, when you can get one Big Grin

yeah the R154 seems to be fairly easy to get hold of, well easier than a 160/161 Smile iirc you get limited by the turbos before the internals let go.
just found a 161 - CLICKY!!!

The R154 is getting very hard to get hold of. just ask marcus.

i'm not doubting your personal costs. but i think youve under estimated the price of the engine/ecu and gearbox a little

I assume that pricing is not a re-built engine - just a "known to be good" one?

The ally welding alone on my conversion came to 1K. But every conversion is going to be different.

Your prices sound good but I fear there may be a few surprises that you may need a bit more than £500 slush fund, lets face it a good tubby is the thick end of 1K, mine I believe was £1200 for the spec it is currently running.
