house polish contains silicone as that is what gives it the shine and smoothness, especially Mr Sheen.

Used a new clean rag and use plenty of spirit, the more the better and many applications using different rags as you go because you dont want to cross contaminate.

For safety reasons it is unsafe to leave the car on the jack, but if it was mine I would not worry and leave it as it is all night, just make sure the door is shut and no kids/wife or animals can get near it, just in case

Thanks dude, yeh cars in gated drive so should be okay. I'll stick plenty of spirit on the wheels tomoro and hopefully should cure it. thanks Phil

one missed point, you need to sand out the contaminate first as it will be sealed in by the primer/paint, rub the affected area back to metal then clean well. Do not expect just to wipe over with spirit and hope thats it.
Tip,, once done spray each wheel with a very light coat of primer to see if reaction takes place, if it does then you aint got a heavy coat to rub back.
