When I first cleaned my exhaust it was thick brown so I used some 800 grit to clean it down and it scratched it quite heavily and after hard polishing with metal polish it's still quite scratched, is there anything else I can use to take the scratches out??

Well from 800 grit you really want to move up to something like 1000, 1500 then 2000. From there the metal polish will have a much greater effect.

Also, what polish are you using. Some have abrasives (Autoglym Metal polish) where others don't (Peek).

EDIT: it does look like the tip is quite heavily pitted though. In which case, it might be beyond repair.

So should I wet n dry it at 1000, 1500 then 2000 then apply some metal polish?
Im using just a standard metal polish usual stuff from a DIY store.

Yep. Keep going at each grade until you can no longer see the scratches from the previous grade underneath. The easiest way to do this is to change the direction you rub with each grade.

As for the metal polish, something with a slight abrasive in it is best (unless you're going for mirror finish). What you've got is probably fine tho.

Just as a side note (if you don't get the desired finish) - you could always go to an exhaust shop and get them to weld you a new tip on for a reasonable price Wink
