OK So here we have my next accomplishment After the Success of my fully functioning computer install Lexusboy decided he wanted the same in his car albeit not quite the same as he didn’t need all of the same toys but at least 90% of them

So we Start with the Components required

Acer Aspire Revo R3610
Carnetix P1900
Navtool SC430 Adaptor
Some fuses
Lots of Cable
Valet Switch
Tape to Ipod Adaptor
VGA – Composite adaptor
Reverse Camera

Now the idea with this as with all my projects is to keep the car looking as standard from priying eyes when turned off.

So we start with the pc
As standard this pc as a contact closure which is used to turn the computer on and off knowing about this from my install made adapting this one really easy to do

Here is the computer
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT013.jpg]
We now open this up yes this does void the warranty but lets be honest who doesn’t void them lol
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT014.jpg]
Once open we need to adapt the switch this is located bottom right of the image above

Here is the item once removed
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT015.jpg]
So now we have this out we take a multimeter and test for continutity what we are looking for is a closure upon pressing the switch this allows the switch to power the pc once located we then join 2 wires to it
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT016.jpg]
Now with these wires joined we need to get them to the outside world as it happens on the back of the unit is a kensignton lock point so this is an ideal hole so we routed the cables through and out and here we have them
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT017.jpg]

Now thats the computer modified ready to run

So onto the car the 1st thing is to strip the centre console down i left ian to do this whilst i was doing the computer bits
So anyway it looks a bit like this
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT002.jpg]
Now that we have the car apart the next thing is to locate a IGN switched circuit this is required to give us a “valet Switch” basicly an on and off for the car pc install the idela place was the cigarette Lighter so anyway pulled the wire out and them cut it
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT006.jpg]
Strip the wire
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT005.jpg]
And the join them back together with the exception of installing an additional link to a switch
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT007.jpg]
As you can see the wires we used were green so easily identifiable, one of these goes to the in on the switch the other comes from the switch and goes to the boot.

Now that we have the switch wired time for mounting now in order to keep this as stock looking as possible we chose inside the centre glove Box
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT004.jpg]

So with all the work up the front done it was now time to move to the boot

We started by installing the Navtool Unit, this is designed for the SC430 and will allow the user to have a Reverse Camera and a Second Input connected so bassed on this ian wanted a reverse camera

Anyway not many pics of this being fitted as it was very straight forward and was done before he could take any pics
[Image: marquee011.jpg]

as the unit is designed for the car its a metter of just interfacing it with the factory wiring so unplug the cams wiring from the boot put the box in and plug box wiring into the boot.
Give it a 12v feed this case the ignition we found up the front and a ground
We also needed to take a feed from the reverse lights to activate the trigger to switch the camera on
Oh and mount the camera

So with that done onto the Carnetix unit
As you can see from below it has 2 main looms one on the left one on the right and a twin wire
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT008.jpg]
The cable on the right is the input
The one on the left is the output

The unit has 2 red 2 black and a yellow on the input side that we have to worry about
We joined the 2 red wires together and crimped those to a constant 12v Source fused at 20amps
We joined the 2 black wires together and the grounded them
We then joined the Single ignition wire to the white cable we broyght from the valet switch up the front this is our ignition feed

With that done it was time to sort out the jumpers these need to be set to allow the correct voltage to be use the revo pc uses 18v so we set the jumpers apropriatly

The VGA adaptor uses 5m so set the second output to be at 5v
The crimped and identified the outputs as shown below
[Image: LEXUSSC430COMPUTERFIT009.jpg]

We did the same for the thing black and green wire these are the ACPI outputs put simply upon power up these wires join together briefly to create a loop these are then connected to the Computer on the wires we soldered to the switch.
We then connected up all the cables to the computer and the NAvtool and turned the ignition on and VOILA!!! It worked

We then also connected up a radio unit to the computer this came in the form of the HD Radio made by directed
So this all got connected up and is controlled via the computer to select the channels, after about 10min of configuration time in windows hey presto we could tune the radio

But there was a problem it was only finding one station, which is not good so after a minute or so of head scratching ian then switched to the radio on the head unit and the antenna went up, i then tried retuning and sure enough i could find lots of stations but the problem was if he came of the radio on the head unit to allow the Computer audio to work the antenna went down and we lost all the stations DOH!!!
So after about 5min of hunting we found the solution and now he has radio as well
So thats everything working time to tidy up hide all the wires put the car back together
Im sure he will upload more pics of the full install if you ask him nicely...

First and foremost a big thanks to the wiring wizard Rabster thanks for your help mate.

We have been looking at getting this together since last year.

We have ordered a few extra's that once fitted we can share with you.

At the moment we have added a few video's and and music, lots more will be added in the coming weeks.

Good thing with this sort of set up is you can add lots to it from SATNAV even strobe lighting obd2 readers etc etc...

At the moment i still have the best of both world with the standard Satnav fitted.
