It's got a single 12v rail rated at 40A though technically it should be able to deliver more for short periods of time. Its brand new and I'm looking for about £30 if you think it'd suit.
I didn't make the connection (no pun!) until now, but I've got a PSU for sale that might suit you.

Thanks for your offer, but the spare PSU I have is an Antec 620W with a single 12V rail rated at 48A. It also has over current protection so it it should not be a risk hooking it up to the winch motor. However, I really need to use a multimeter to check what it draws as if it's over 50A then it'll not work anyway.

I imagine to pull more than 10A through it you'll need to use multiple yellow wires as although the PSU is rated highly the wire is only good for a few amps. You might need to open up the PSU to identify which wires are which rails if it has multiple 12v rails (which by the sound of it it doesn't).
You know what you're doing in terms of wiring it up? Like, yellow is 12v, red is 5v, blacks are all ground (but may be separate depending on the rail configuration) green is the wire to ground to turn PSU on etc. etc.
I imagine to pull more than 10A through it you'll need to use multiple yellow wires as although the PSU is rated highly the wire is only good for a few amps. You might need to open up the PSU to identify which wires are which rails if it has multiple 12v rails (which by the sound of it it doesn't).

After investigation it looks like the only practical solution is to leave it hooked up to the battery with my automatic battery charger permanently on. In theory the charger switches from charge to maintenance mode depending on the status of the battery, but I've yet to see it switch (which is what prompted this discussion).
