Thought i would post up some simple steps to give you that fresh look on your brakes. Middle of the Supra's discs always have surface rust which show up if you have after market wheels so this is what i did to solve the problem

This is what they looked like before

First thing, once you have the wheel off and secure by axle stands, get a wire brush and remove as much rust as possible

Then clean with brake cleaner and give it a wipe

Then clean the brake caliper with some sand paper and clean with brake cleaner

When your happy, start masking the disc with masking tape so you dont get paint everywhere

Now you can start painting the brake caliper and discs. I used Matt Black as i have Matt Black wheels but you can use any funky colours,

Make sure you paint the face around where the wheel sits as you can still see some of the disc

Just to finish it off i ordered some more heat proof SUPRA logos from ebay which you can choose your own colours, i have Yellow logos on mine Wink

When i read the instructions they said you dont have to do it if you wash your wheels with normal soap, if your using any wheel cleaners they advise you to lacquer them

Im getting K Sport brakes soon, just doing this as the rust was driven me mad lol

If i was keeping them i would probably lacquer them anyways though

toxo You're gonna wanna lacquer over those decals if you want them to stay on!

Gord Never use the masking tape, as the pads take off the paint you get on the disc anyway Smile

Um that's some daft advice, that's like saying 'paint your brake discs, itll be fine because eventually the pads will clear the paint off'.

We got a fair bit of paint on our discs the other day, no problem, all cleared now.

Gord Where it saying anything like that ?? i see from the pic when he masking his disc he not mask all the disc :whistling: the little bit of paint you may get on you disc has/will come off via the pad, works for me :whistling: with a nice clean finish :whistling:take a wee look next time you see my car, infact i will make a point of showing you Smile

Right, so you get some overspray on your discs and the first time you take the car off the drive and round the corner you have to do an emergency stop cause a kid runs out in front of you and your brakes don't work because you've got paint between the pads and the disc surface - the pads have to burn the paint off before they are effective.

Brake discs are shipped with a protective layer of oil on them and a big warning saying you have to clean this off because it affects their efficiency. Paint is not gonna behave much differently!

Always clean your brake discs with brake cleaner, any time you could have got any contaminent on them.

i am not going to say anything but did the same as most of the guys on here The over paint round the hub burns off in seconds gives a nice neat finish better than trying to cut in Dont bite my head off for this and be warned i bite back much harderWink

I too have oversparayed about 40plus disc's over years and natural friction cleans the surface, not had any probs with judder or pads., or any braking problems,
What I do is for the first 100yds or so is drive with the brakes lightly applied so the pads act as a paint remover, then avoiding high speeds for a short while.

But as Toxo quite rightly says, a coat or two of Lacquer seals the transer on and stops the brake dust from discolouring your nice painted caliper and makes cleaning so so much easier
