toxo Not a wire as such. My understanding is that because the car is built LHD, the brake servo and master cylinder are on (what in this country would be) the passenger side, instead of just at the top of the brake pedal where they would normally be. So instead the brake pedal operates a cable on the RHS which is then attached to the master cylinder on the LHS. So you can apply pressure to this cable with your foot from the passenger footwell.

That actually makes it sound even worse.......:w00t:

The brakes on those cars are terrible anyway, they are so over-servoed that they tend to either be off or on with ABS activation at all times Smile

oh come on its not just French cars, the RHD Beetle has a similar issue - whereby the passenger can accelerate the car accidentally - far more dangerous. there is an after-market cover plate for this issue but not a VW one.

as you have said Phil, so many cars suffer this scenario,
I cant remember what car it was on but when I was a passenger I could feel the floor pan move when driver operated the clutch.
