How much would newspaper advertising cost? im guessing its pricey for a national when people will prob skip by it. Now they are in a story.
And if someone then wants a bet, what do you go to first? a name you know, "ah paddy power, ive heard of them, seem a good company, ill use them"

Paddy Power are into self publicity, and I don't think it has done them any harm. Last year they erected a massive (similar to the 'Hollywood sign) 'Paddy Power' sign sign on a hill over-looking Cheltenham Race Course for the Gold Cup. Did it without planning permission so massive local outcry and it was all over the news. Agreed to take it down, but by that time the racemeeting was over and their objectives obviously met. Cheap publicity when you think about it.

Ahh ok yeah I suppose that makes sense - if seen to be making ridiculous payouts, I guess you'd be more inclined to use them than the other betting places.
