I'm looking at modernising some more of the lighting on the car, and LED rear foglights seem to be the next one to do.

However I have done the fog to sidelight mod, and would like to keep this setup. So what I want to know is are all the LED foglights you see on eBay and such, actually a full 21w equivalent? or can I just use them as sidelights still without blinding people?

Or if they are just foglights, could I do something clever with resistors and diodes to give myself a reduced current on a second wire to dim them for use as sidelights?

Any advice appreciated

I looked into that previously, but I fancy something that looks visibly different.

I really like the MMsport conversions that a guy in america does...

But its an expensive option.

Yes I meant the rear ones, couldn't edit the title after I posted it Sad

I've already put LED's in my front fogs to make them DRLs Wink

Marsdendean ^^ I'm using LED's in the rear of mine, but i really need to take them out as there is no real difference between sidelights and braking.

Only reason i like them is because of the rapid response as they come on, those USA lights look amazing!

Really you can measure the time difference lol.

I'm not sure on the rules about linking to other forums, but if you do a search for 'MMsport' on the my.IS forum they will come up.

The top picture I posted is the V2 which he no longer makes, the bottom one with the thinner rings is the current model (V3)

His own website is HERE although there no pictures on it.

The gist of it is though...he used to sell them as DIY kits but people kept installing them badly and it was making his product look bad. So he now does them on an exchange system where he send youy some with them fitted and you give him your standard lights. Or if you've gotta lotta dolla, you can buy a completely new set with them already fitted. But I'm in the process of seeing if he'd be willing to send over just the parts required to do it myself in a kit. Because otherwise including shipping costs the cheapest option would be to buy a new set, and your looking at nearly $600 plus postage for that!

And I've looked at that post on the DIY LED rings...looks like a pretty good idea. I might give that a go, but put one ring on the very outer edge, and then a second ring slightly further in like the ones I posted. Ideally what I'd like to do would be fit twin LED rings in both the brake and fog lights, and then disconnect the sidelight bulbs so only the LEDs were on unless I braked, assuming the LEDs are bright enough to allow this of course...
