What sort of company might use a hydraulic press?
(Original thread title: Who can slide this on my shaft!)
In order to rebuild my charger one of the main things I need is a hydraulic press for pushing the new bearings onto the shafts. It looks like I can pick one uup for about £100 on eBay but I really don't want the hassle of finding somewhere to set it up and then having to sell it after.
So, what kind of place would use such a device? Any ideas chaps?
You probably dont need one. You could try putting the shaft in the freezer for 30 mins then try dropping the bearing on, it might give enough clearance.
If not, i would say most engineering places would have a press. A lot of car garages do as well for replacing wheel bearings
jimxms Cheers dude. Good call with the wheel bearings. Fingers crossed I can do it without. The only thing I need to buy now is a 3 jaw puller for getting the buggers off in the first place.
