Aye, 30 stone on your shaft is one thing. 30 tonnes...well that's a whole new level.

I'm just weighing up the pros/cons of attempting this rebuild myself vs shipping it to the USA to be done.

It costs $680 to have it rebuilt (not including shipping both ways), or I can buy the parts myself for $480. I _think_ I can probably do it myself if I can get access to the right tools, but if I screw up, then its $480 down the drain...

I'm just exploring a couple more options before I decide to go ahead and do it myself.

1. Pull the unit apart and send it to a bearing company in the UK to see if they can match up the parts. I'd assume they would also have the tools for removal/installation of bearings so it might be a cheap way to get the whole thing done.

2. See if a Turbo rebuild company in the UK would be willing to take the job on. If anything I'd assume the S/C would be a lot easier to repair than a turbo, though a ot of the companies I've contacted so far are merely gophers and just sell refurbed turbos

Lol, if I replied to every single one, my phone bill could have paid for the rebuild Wink

I'd better fit you in soon though as I'm gonna be taking the charger off the car when I get a chance. The noises its making sound like some of the bearings are shot...and well, i'd rather the impeller didn't make contact with the housing when spinning at 60,000RPM. So best I do this rebuild asap.
