This is sounding so impressive - I can't wait to see the changes either. We'd better not unveil on the same day lol

Car is getting close to finishing but got abit of bad news today:

Matt@TRL Anees

Ive been doing some further mapping. I am now upagaint a bit of a Hurdle. The Stock ecu is picking up Phantom Knock The frequency of the new engine is what the ecu thinks is knock. I have made qadjustments to the Knock controll but can not get around the issue. It is hampering performance and Final tuning

The Most desirable option around it would be a Motorsport after market ecu Like the Syvecs but is is expensive.

I wondered it the budget would stretch to that? I would offer the building of the wiring harness and maping of the Syvecs Free of Charge.

Let me know your thoughts either way

Kind Regards

Matt]

Going to pop into TRL tomorrow to have a chat but what Matt is saying seems true.

The factory knock sensor is only calibrated to listen to the harmonic frequency of det on a standard engine, once you change internals other noises can interfere with the knock sensor.
Factory knock control can be adjusted using Ecuflash but this does not dial it out enough. Sad

Many people are running big power on the standard ECU but it seems they are lucky that the harmonic frequency of there new engine is not too far off the frequency of the old one.

Look at the Link EUC's mate, excellent bits of kit and a bit cheaper than Syvecs i believe

Seams like a short straw has been drawn. Go with Stav - he knows his ECU's - if the Link can be used then thats the way to go.

Anees Car I have to say is looking very nice and the engine bay really is like something out of a magazine! Can't believe it is my car!!!
Big Grin

That's the second time you've said that! Must look really smart! Can't wait for engine bay shots.

All looks very good apart from the teething problems. As always, the way around these things (often the only way) is to throw money at it! What's a Syvecs ECU? £1500?

I'm sure the TRL guys who what they are doing, but you don't want this to happen:

(May have seen it on here or facebook before?)

EDIT: I deliberately tired to post a link, not embed a video! Please no further posts just to comment on the vid, as I don't wanna take Anees's project thread (too far) off topic!

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

Been looking into ECUs and many are used but the Link one that Stav recommended seems to come very highly recommended!

Matt@TRL really rates Vipec and Syvecs ECUs but my research suggests the Vipec and Link are actually the same ECU.

Link is a fair bit cheaper too....... off to see Matt now and see what he suggests. Apart from buying the ECU he has offered to do the wiring and mapping for free which is good of him

Just a slight update......

In the end decided to go with the Syvecs ECU since Matt@TRL is really passionate about them and I have said he can have my car as long as he likes (within reason) to get the map perfect.

Because Syvecs are not that established in the Evo market, usually people go for Vipec, Motec or Link G4) Matt is charging me for the ECU and wiring harness only and doing the install and mapping for free. I thought that if my tuner is so passionate about the ECU then he should do a good job so I trust him to get on with it.

Syvecs are well established in Subaru's btw...... most high power Subaru's use them.

I have been away for two weeks but Matt has been waiting for the Syvecs ECU to arrive from the US. It should be here today fingers crossed.

Also, bought a few bling bits for the car! Got a nice allard 3 point strut brace and some carbon fibre fuse box covers. Smile
