ormi Em I am the mot tester....heehee....

How far are you from Exeter?

I will get a decat on mine, when more important things have been sorted (like charger and manifold de-catting!) You should notice a difference, just a little more grunt! Probably good for a few extra horses, I would have thought? Plus the exhaust will likely get slightly louder.

I have had a decat pipe on a few cars, including my current Pug. The 1600 in that thing sounds like a rally car (full system from manifold back and other mods also) the popping is amazing. Actually addictive! I currently have a cat fitted to that one as not got round to changing it after MOT (emissions 3x the max limit without it!) and only my misses drives really, now I've got the Lex. If you listen carefully you can sometime still hear a quiet popping sound, as if it's coming out of the cylinders but the cat is silencing/killing it!

Certainly Stav decatted his a while back, when it was still TTE charged. He may be one to ask about it specific to your car.

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

is300_dino not on the y pipe and from what ive been reading on myis is to get this unit from tokensolutions and the one unit plugs into the connecter blocks for b1s2 and b2s2 (think there the right ones) and get to keep the obd2 running with no cel faults with no cats at all
heres a link to one write up from over the pond
http://my.is/forums/f206/tokensolutions-...up-410399/

**Do not buy the japspeed / 2fast2cool decat pipes**

That's my word of warning.

If you want to go decat, just cut out the cat from the OEM downpipe.

I'm running a 200cel sports cat on mine as I couldn't be bothered with all the MOT issues. Also, it is dyno proven that (on an IS300 at least), you will loose torque but gain HP by going decat (unless you are running a large turbo of course).

Generally speaking, the difference in performance between a decent sports cat and a decat will be negligible, or so I have been told. The main difference between the two options being sound and cost.

Kerja why? and ormi just won one on ebay as well. Are they that bad or what?

Whoops. But yes they are pants. I purchased on and returned it the next day because:

A) It was covered in oil..which to me indicates an attempt to prevent whatever cheap steel they've used from rusting while in the box.

B) The 'Y' part that joins to the headers has reducers that immediately go down from the OEM 2" size to 1.75". This makes them more restrictive than the OEM downpipe. So straight away you've probably lost any benefits from removing the cat restriction.

C) The reducers they used to go from 2" to 1.75" are welded inside the pipe, rather than on to it. Meaning you've got a 1.75" pipe poking inside a 2" pipe creating even more restrictions.

D) Where the pipe goes from 2 to 1, the OEM pipe and most other aftermarket pipes join together at an angle, so the exhaust flow is merged. The Japspeed pipe simply dumps the 2 pipes into 1.

E) the two-pipe part of the downpipe is much longer than the OEM pipe, making it harder to weld in sensors without creating even more of a restriction to the already tiny 1.75" pipes.

I could go on....

Its just a bad design. Well, i wouldn't call it a design at all. Its just three bits of pipe welded together without any though for performance at all. Probably done solely in the hope that removing the cat will give the desired result.

oh well, thanks for that info, I thought I'd go for their decat setup, but will think twice now as well. Just got one of their exhausts
