Hi

I know i havent been around much lately life is very busy. Hopefully my skyline will be sold this week and im looking at another IS. My question is to all the IS300 owners is the manual mode on the auto gearbox really like a manual? My skyline is auto but even in power mode when u come off throttle it wont hold the gear it just changes to the next gear and it annoys the hell out of me. Does the manual mode mean it stays in the gear you put it in until you change?

Thanks in advance guys

No, it'll just stop it going higher than what it's set at

Yh if you put it in manual mode it stays in that gear until you change it yourself apparently alot of Americans forgot and blew engines as they thought they were gonna change automatically at some point lol

So your tuckin 15's, that's cute but come back to me when you get some proper size wheels

So the tip tronic buttons are true up and down shifts, not like the 2nd gen IS that is a gear limiter, rather than a shifter? IE, I slam it into manual mode, and when I wanna go from say third to fourth, I just press the UP button on the steering wheel, and if I wann shift down a gear in a corner, I just press down, right?

Yep god knows why they changed it on the is250's
And is300's pull so nice and kick down is good nice and smooth but pulls hard and constant I love mine Defo do the exhaust you can't keep a 2jz quiet there's laws against things like that haha I went from an mr2 and thought I'd be a bit bit weird being in an auto but there so nice to drive and the manumatic as they all it is almost as good as having a manual so win win

It's actually the main reason I'm toying with the idea of switching to an IS300. The extra power would be nice (as the 2.0 in the 200 is a little lethargic), but even though I do really like the 6sp manual in my 200, I really do fancy an auto so I can just drive lazy! But for those times I do want to hoon it down some country twisty's, the tiptronic would be ideal! (That, and I just didn't fancy the 80's inspired 4sp auto in the 200)

Love the IS300, its a lazy car when your tired and almost fast when you want to have fun. Don't bother with the manual controls on a daily basis just leave it in auto.

They're not that bad really when cimpared to an is200 auto, it all depends in driving style, my current exhaust is that loud, I don't really have to Push the noisy pedal to get it making a fantastic sound, reco the 300 would probably stretch to 160 miles depending on the cars usage
