My money's still on it being something basic. Knackered sensor, hole in a hose or at worst the precats. Big things don't tend to just let go and when they do they do it in a much more dramatic fashion than that!

Phil01 jim leading up to the breakdown and at the time what sort of speeds/loads/boost were you at mate, general idea of the loads on the engine??

Was travelling at about 75mph in 5th gear and just cruising like that for about 10+ miles. I'd be surprised if I was making boost, if I was it would only be 1-2psi. Had mrs and kids in car so no ragging it.

Funny thing is that for a while I had noticed the car was unusually smooth. Almost like I was coasting. It was only when I needed some power to overtake I could really tell something wasn't right!

The grinding is what worries me. It's like the grinding kicks in when I try to apply power.

Ok so home now. Engine sounds 100% fine at idle and even when I free rev. However tge back end if the car is really quiet. Considering I've got a custom exhaust setup it's not burbling anywhere near as much as normal. Wtf???

Could well be possible. I've checked all the pipes for damage or leaks and I can't see anything though. I would assume that a collapsed cat would cause the surrounding area to heat up red hot?

I really need a second opinion tho as I'm worried I might not be thinking straight.

Ok, exhaust is definitely not expelling as much gasses as normal. Also water/condensation is dripping from the join between the midpipe and back box.
