van "broken" into 2nd time
van "broken" into 2nd time
I have a van, which i have to park at a close up my road, due to parking being such a nightmare, unfortunately i have a problem with my central locking so have to leave it unlocked, and haven't got round to sorting it.
Last week my stereo was nicked, and this morning i got to it and the f**kers had been in there again, funny thing is it's so full of rubbish (i take all tools out of it every day) that it was just paper everywhere, nothing worth taking.I also know it's my fault for tempting the scum with open doors,
But this isn't the point, i've been brought up with the attitude that you don't touch what isn't yours without the owners permission. I get cheesed off when someone simply leans on my car!
So my options are:
1. move the van to a different location (i don't have the money at the minute to get the locks sorted)
2.stake it out over the next few nights, with a hammer in hand, and when they return, put these scum in such a state that they physically won't be able to enter a car ever again.
3.forget about it and just leave it there, after all there is nothing worth taking, and the van is definately not worth stealing considering it has a slow(ish) puncture that goes completely flat over night.lol.
I would put money on it been kids Ben, hence the return visit. It will become a regular thing till you get the locks fitted. Not much you can really do at present, wouldn't waste my time waiting for them, it will just be you that gets in trouble then ( I can't believe I am been so sensible !)
Maybe it will catch fire one night and you can cash in on the insurance and get a new van
that's a good point lol, i went to sell it last year and was told "it's worth more in scrap metal-around £150" lol, but to me its priceless because it makes me money..don't know what the insurance would pay out, and can't exactly ask them, looks a bit suspect.
Yeah, kids are most likely. Though with no locks, you are asking for it. I know it's your property and nobody else should touch it, but that isn't the world we live in, unfortunately.
If the van is as old and near worthless, as you say, I would recommend fitting a surface mount latch with a padlock, like you might a garden shed. For the cost of a pint or two, it will keep the little beggars out.
that's a good idea, i may just do that. saves having to spend £100 every time my key battery goes;thats what it costs to buy a new key and get it coded
what about welding up the the door lock points and putting after market alarm on you can get them cheap enough now on ebay like a toad AI606 alarm fit that maybe....
the locks have already been taken out by the previous owner, this is why i cant lock it until i get the central locking sorted. sorry i meant Remote central locking
aquanuke Cheap hasp and staple with padlock for a few quid would be best.
