steviewevie Looks good SHAHZ. What state was that water in though ? Confusedhock:

Resetting the ECU John, you only need to leave the fuses out for a few seconds really, 30 seconds is recommended. So 5 minutes will be more than enough and it will definitely have reset if you took out the right fuses (ECTS and EFI).

And that wasnt even all of it alot of **** went straight down the drain!! Yep only need about 30 seconds, i pulled the fuses, put the filter back in and then put the fuses back in

steviewevie The K&N cleaning kit (cleaning solution plus oil) is around a tenner. Opie Oils have it here, or you will find it on eBay (search for "K&N cleaning").

Thats a good price and they got a 30% offer on at the moment, although i suppose you will need to add postage.....Dean, mine was well filthy, i didnt use any brush to loosen the dirt as it could damage the filter, heres what i did

1. Tapped it gently to remove any loose ****
2. Sprayed it with loads of cleaner & let it soak for 10 mins
3. Rinsed (ONLY POUR WATER ON THE CLEAN SIDE) with loads of water (not to much pressure, just a nice steady flow). Most of the **** will wash away but there was some bits left in there and tapping gently with the water flowing helped dislodge it!.
4. Let it dry completly....i left it in the sun for a few hours
5. Oil it - It really only needs 1 bead of oil on each pleat (on one side only)
6. Leave it for 10 mins and check the other side for white patches and oil accordingly.
7. Leave for an hour to set
8. Reinstall!

I didn't think the TOM's filters were ones you could clean. Though I could be wrong.

You thought I had what Dean, a TOM's filter or a cleaning kit ? I sold my K&N plus cleaning kit to another member on here. You do need the cleaning kit to give it a proper clean (though you could vacuum it to probably help a bit - but make sure you vacuum from the dirty side).

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

I dont think you can clean them Stevie because the Toms filter is made out of a foam type material but i'm not 100% sure.

Car was beginning to cut out again so last weekend pulled the filter out to find it looking like this

Got the cleaning kit out and soon it looked normal again!

Ooooops the heat has made this cover crumble away!!

Major improvement, however still a slightly low idle, after reading Parthibans thread i think i might clean the throttle body!.........got a strange whine when accelerating since refitting it now though?!

I wouldn't have thought that's down to heat personally, I'd be more inclined to think it just came out of a bad batch of plastic.

Sounds like an earth fault, did you connect everything correctly and didnt trap any cables?

they do look like new when you refurb them
