Moley - a man after my own heart! I am currently looking to get a garage made too (not quite as big as yours however) Smile

Ideally I would love a car lift/ramp too, but worried about the height. I have looked into building regulations and they say that I can have a building up to 4 meters high with a pitched roof.

I know you have loads more land, but did you have to apply for planning permission or can you get away with building regs?

Thanks
Anees

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

2 post all the way. 4 post is actually pretty useless, even with the centre jacks, as your always working round the main rails/guides. The only consideration is on foundations. For a 2 post you ideally want 18" to 24" thick as a minimum, rebarred, with long studs sunk into the pad to bolt the lift onto. 4 post you can be a bit more lenient, 18 minimum, but you can get away with anchor bolts, as the load is more evenly spread.

For height just think, you want to walk under the car. so say it needs to be 6 foot in the air. plus height of the car your looking at 10-12 foot minimum ceiling height, depending on the height of the vehicle you want to lift
