One of my neighbours never used to be that worried about swinging his car door into other cars when he got in or out.
I has words with him about it but that didn't seem to improve matters. So I told him that "I'm going to fit an alarm with an impact sensor to my car. Trouble is (as I don't commute in my MX5) if it gets set off it could be going off till I got back home". He works nights so he said if it was going off all day he'd report me to the police for noise pollution !!!!
What can you say to someone who comes out with that?
What I DID say was something along the lines of "If I come home to find police hovering around my car I'll have to see it as an opportunity to tell them about your multiple hit and run accidents........ As far as I'm concerned, your cars hit mine..... REPEATEDLY, so wouldn't that be classed as multiple accidents? I don't seem to remember you ever coming to tell me about the dings your cars doors caused to mine, So that's where the HIT AND RUN bit comes in. Did.... Sorry, I mean DO you have many years NO CLAIMS BONUS? I only ask because if you get this particular ball rolling you'd almost be forcing me to give that ball another kick and tell the cops how you failed to produce insurance details after the accidents, And well, Once THAT'S in the police system I'd HAVE to make a claim against your insurance, Wouldn't I?........... If your insurance company DID have to pay for my car's bodywork to be straightened and resprayed, Do you think I should stick with green? Thing is, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for orange on an MX5. Do you think they'd let me do that?...... What do you think?"
If I wrote his reply on here I'd probably get a life time ban from this forum.
Well, That was the last time we spoke........ But up till he moved out a few months ago he didn't park anywhere near my car again (That's a win win in my book........ And No, Before you all ask, I don't think I contributed (Much) to him deciding to leave the neighbourhood. :whistling

spooktoon the real question is, from a fellow van driver, what van you driving ayyy?!?!For company conformity I'm meant to be in one of their signwriten T5 Transporters, But due to a lower back problem (Two deformed vertebra and three mechanically damaged disc's. :crying
I can't drive Transporters for more than two weeks without popping Ibuprofen like smarties.The powers that be told me that they would rent me a brand new van, but the choice from their preferred rental company was a tad limited....
I could have a Citroen Berlingo (Which would be too small to get all the work in on some days),
Or a Mk7 SWB Transit (Which even from new has all the mechanical refinement of a 20 year old cement mixer).
So I didn't really have a choice in the end.
The Transit's underpowered with cr*p handling (Front wheel drive with a bl00dy leaf sprung rear beam !!!!!WTF !!!!!!). No aircon, So in summer you get the choice of being broiled in your own juices, Or going deaf if you have the windows open and your doing more than 40mph. In winter it's got as much grip on the road as Michael Jackson had on reality. Last time it snowed around here I couldn't get enough grip to get it up over my roads camber. In the end I had to get in my MX5 (Lowered with 215 profile tyres on the back and hardly enough curb weight to leave tracks in the snow) and drive it to B&Q for a bag of sand to chuck around the stranded Transits front wheels.
The only impressive thing about the Transit is that it seems immune to my attempts to abuse the hateful thing to death.
I used to drive a Vauxhall "Ivaro" (It used to be a "Vivaro" till I managed to accidentally jet wash the first "V" off of the back door). I have to say that it was the nicest van I've ever driven. It was soooooo comfortable, quick enough to surprise a fair few cars off the lights, It was quiet at motorway speeds and the handling was pretty good too (It felt strangely like driving a Mk3 Granada. Not amazing by car standards, But pretty impressive for a van). In the end the rental company took it back off of me when I managed to get it from the 30 odd thousand miles it had when I was given it, up to 198,500 miles in around 18 months. I was annoyed about that, I've never managed to get a van over 200,000 before but when it was 3 or 4 days away from it I took it in for a service and they refused to let me have it back (They said if it got over 200 thousand miles on it the resale value would drop off even more than it had already.
ad.Anyway, It's well past my beddy byes time now so I better sign off and try to get some sleep.
