HID question
HID question
Nope, no need for a canbus kit and 4300K is the optimal temperature.
While on the subject of hid kits, one of mine has lost colour so I am going to replace both bulbs, my question is: can I get bulbs with a different k rating and keep the ballasts I have Ir are they only compatible with the type of bulbs that they were supplied with? Not the best description, I hope someone understands what I mean, thanks in advance
You should be able to use any HID lamp, the colour is irrelevant to the ballast.
Great, cheers for that, wasn't sure if ballasts helped create the temp,
4300K is the most common colour in manufacturer fitted HIDs, though many people (myself included) prefer 6000K, as it white with just a hint of blue. 8000K are even more blue, and anything higher than that may cause problems with MOTs and attract unwanted Police attention.
I started of with 6000k, and if anything the light they create on the road is a little too blue for my liking. But now I've had them for a year they have faded to a more white colour and I definitely prefer it, so I will be swapping to 5000K when I change bulbs.
