Little write up on the evolution of my car
Little write up on the evolution of my car
Well i had a day off today so this is what happened:
Not too hard to do, but ****** difficult on your own lol.
Anyway its all out now, separated and on the engine stand, let the rebuild commence.
Can finally get to the wiring loom round the back of the engine as well and trim that right down as well,
Also found this:
Traced it back to above the fuel tank. Looks to me like an unused return fuel line, dont know if the IS300 has a return line as standard?
Ive already bought all the stuff for mine so not going to use it but could be useful.
So my car now looks empty:
And the engines all ready for rebuild (excuse the gloves, try to keep bits getting in)
How about taking the engine up to mine , and then fitting it
LOL maybe not
And why not I'll pay your petrol :kiltsmilie:
Moley And why not I'll pay your petrol :kiltsmilie:

Well it was worth a try , dont you think ?
So when is it going to be back on the road Stav ?

toxo Is that fuel pipe a breather that would have originally been connected to a carbon cannister?

further work been happening the last couple of days:
First i cut down the arches ive bought and trialed them:
Need some more taking off then so that the wheels are more flush before i start moulding them on.
Also took to the arches with the arch roller, Butchered is not the word lol but just wanted to use it to see how easy it is and how much i can flex them so i dont have to cut them out under the arches.
Continued with the wire tuck, sorted all the wires i need to remove/add now so started rewrapping the looms and tidying up:
Doesnt look great at the moment but def in the right direction and you can see how empty the arch areas look now!
But you can see all the old bolt holes and clip holes etc. So spent some of today starting to patch them up.
Ideally i'd weld them up but not being able to weld and also only owning a stick welder im trying fibreglass filled filler and bodyshop mesh to cover the holes see how it stands up.
It looks a right mess at the moment (id sprayed the drivers side black to help show up how much more work was needed), but should look well smart once ive sanded down and
filled them flat. Then resprayed them in body colour.
Finally got decisions to make on what i put back. Already got a cunning plan for the power steering system. But i cant decide on the aircon.
My aircon rad is kaput so i will need to replace that and the pipes just add to the clutter (plus the power sapping the pump does).
But ive sprayed the pipes black anyway so if i do put them back they look neater.
Still plenty to do but def getting there with the work.
